I am a composer as well as a teacher, and a writer. I just discovered I can put audio clips up here so here are two pieces of mine, one from 2006 a setting of Emily Dickinson’s poem “Because I Could not Stop for Death”
And this a setting of Liam Mac Ustin’s poem Rinneadh Aisling Dúinn (We Saw a Vision) done in the Spring of 2004. The talking is a part of the piece because I was trying to recreate the feel of a music session in a pub. The performance took place at the University of Limerick and was a part of my Masters degree in Ethnomusicology. Alasdair Codona is the vocal soloist.
Here is the poem in English and Irish.
This is some of my original music. Picture is me and Liam Mac Uistin.
